Germany has announced more than €39 million in new commitments to Togo, equivalent to over CFA25 billion, following intergovernmental consultations in Lomé. The announcement, published by Togolese authorities on Monday, 26 October 2026, covers several development sectors and does not mean that the funds have already been disbursed.

The talks, concluded late last week, reviewed ongoing cooperation projects and identified steps to improve their implementation. The priorities span agriculture and rural development, energy, healthcare, vocational training, private-sector development and local governance.

Among the initiatives discussed were the “Irrigation +” project, school meal programmes, rural road rehabilitation and upgrades to the Nangbéto hybrid hydro-solar power facility. Health infrastructure, training facilities and support for local authorities were also on the agenda. The official statement did not break down the new commitments into allocations for individual projects.

The two sides also focused on how investments will be monitored, infrastructure maintained and energy efficiency improved. These discussions concerned the effectiveness of existing projects as well as future cooperation. The official announcement did not specify a project-by-project disbursement timetable.

The new announcement follows a separate financing agreement signed on 13 October under the programme supporting municipal financing, known as PAFC. Worth more than CFA5.17 billion, that earlier agreement covers 35 municipalities, including communities in the Kara, Centrale and Plateaux regions. It should not be confused with the additional commitments announced after the consultations.
