Algeria's oil tax revenue reached 2,841 billion dinars between January and September 2026, exceeding the forecast for the full year, Hydrocarbons Minister Mohamed Arkab announced on Saturday 17 October before the finance and budget committee of the National People's Assembly.

The amount represents about 105% of the annual target, rounded to 2,698 billion dinars, according to the minister's figures reported by public television and the APS news agency. The gap thus amounts to some 143 billion dinars. This comparison concerns oil tax levies, which are separate from revenue earned from sales abroad.

Oil and gas exports brought in 37.5 billion dollars over the first nine months of 2026. The ministry had reported 31 billion dollars for the same period of 2025 in its review presented on 25 October 2025. The difference amounts to 6.5 billion dollars, an increase of about 21% in value.

Mohamed Arkab mainly attributes these export revenues to the higher average price of Algerian crude, which rose to nearly 97 dollars a barrel, up 37% from the first nine months of 2025. The average price of marketed Algerian gas was around 11.3 dollars per million British thermal units.

The presentation came as part of the review of the draft finance bill for 2027. For 2026, the ministry had based the oil tax forecast on a budget reference price of 60 dollars a barrel.
