The Lesotho police received more than 25,000 applications for 500 officer posts, Lesotho Tribune reported on Sunday, 18 October, citing its spokesperson, Superintendent Mohai.
The recruitment therefore covers more than 50 applications for each post to be filled, according to figures provided to the newspaper.
This demand for public-sector jobs comes in a country where the unemployment rate stood at 30.1% in 2024, according to the labour force survey of the National Bureau of Statistics. The indicator reports the number of unemployed people as a share of the labour force.
