Senegal raised CFA55 billion on the regional market on Friday 23 October, CFA5 billion above its target, in an auction dominated by the five-year bond. The weighted average yield on that maturity reached 8.24%, up from 7.82% at the 9 October auction of the same bond.
Investors submitted CFA69.4 billion in bids against a CFA50 billion target. The Treasury mainly accepted five-year subscriptions, worth CFA36 billion, followed by the twelve-month bill, worth CFA18.5 billion.
The yield on the twelve-month bill also rose, by 19 basis points from 9 October to 8.06%. The three-year bond yielded 8.01%.
The rise in one- and five-year yields increases the cost of this funding for the state. At the 9 October auction, Senegal had accepted CFA74.4 billion against a CFA80 billion target.
