The regional securities exchange closed on Friday, 23 October, up 1.37%, with its Composite index reaching 529.14 points, driven by a 4.40% rise in Sonatel to 43,850 francs CFA.
That session was the last before the split of the Sonatel share, scheduled for Monday, 26 October. Each old share is to be replaced by ten new shares, with a mechanical adjustment of the reference price and no change in the total value held by shareholders.
The shares of the Senegalese operator accounted for 1.55 billion francs CFA, or more than half of the 2.78 billion traded across the whole market, according to Sika Finance.
The other two main indices also rose. The BRVM 30 gained 1.38% and the BRVM Prestige 1.60%, according to official data.
The session ended with 21 stocks up and 18 down. Unilever Côte d’Ivoire posted the best performance, at 7.47%, while Nestlé Côte d’Ivoire suffered the steepest decline, at 4.34%.
