The Bank of South Sudan announced on Monday 19 October that civil servants' salaries would be paid through designated commercial banks. It invites public-sector workers to go to their respective institutions to collect their pay in cash.
Withdrawals must follow each bank's payment procedures, the institution states in its notice. The central bank says it is facilitating the provision of liquidity to ensure the smooth running of the payments.
The statement, also reported on Tuesday 20 October by South Sudanese radio station Eye Radio, does not specify the months of pay concerned.
