Bernabé Côte d’Ivoire returned to profit in the first nine months of 2026. The BRVM-listed hardware and building-materials distributor reported net income of CFA139.03 million for the period ended 30 September, reversing a CFA157.03 million loss a year earlier, according to its activity report released on 28 October.
The turnaround came alongside a 13% increase in revenue to CFA36.08 billion, from CFA31.83 billion. Bernabé attributed the expansion to the integration of its Equipment business in January and stronger performance across its other branches. The sales improvement also lifted profit from ordinary activities to CFA169.07 million, compared with a CFA143.78 million loss in the first nine months of 2025.
Higher sales support the return to profitability
Management pointed to improved commercial margins and tighter control of operating and financial expenses. Profitability nevertheless remains thin relative to sales, with net income equivalent to around 0.4% of nine-month revenue. For context, the company earned CFA22.32 million in net profit over the whole of 2025.
Bernabé expects growth to continue in the final quarter as it develops the Equipment business and its other departments. The company is also pursuing organisational changes aimed at improving profitability.
